Youkers v State of Texas

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals of Texas, located in Dallas, held that a trial judge's undisclosed Facebook  "friendship" with the victim's father in a criminal prosecution alone does not establish grounds for recusal or disqualification.  Youkers v. State of Texas, No. 05-11-01407-CR (Tex. App. -- Dallas, May 15, 2013).

1. Read Law Prof Blog
2. Watch video -  Facebook Likes in court
3. Read the case Youkers v State of Texas

Now answer the following questions:

1. Who won the case (actual name)
2. Why
3. What was the "rule of the case" - the legal principle and rule of the case the court used to resolve the dispute.

Now post your work in the etudes class assignment.

Good luck,

Prof J.
